Also a lot of kits have accompanying CDs or DVDs as well as some of the TCMC. Sierra will flag any of these with CHECK FOR:... messages. What is important to note -- most of these discs will NOT be housed in the DVD or CD cabinets -- they will be in the book or box that they accompany. It is very important that you pay attention to these messages, because if any components are missing, I need to know about it. The item can still be checked out to the patron, but I will need to annotate the record so the patron will not be responsible for missing components. And it is probably a good idea to check the cabinets anyway in case the discs were filed by mistake.
We will be moving some of the older or bulkier pieces of equipment to the storage room within the next few days. The storage room (304B) is at the end of the hallway behind the office (same hallway as the Comm Lab). It can be opened with the 304A key. Please be sure the door remains locked at all times! It has be to locked with the key. Eventually, we will put a message in Sierra that informs you that a piece is in there, but for now -- it you don't see it, check the store room.
BTW, do all of you know how to look for equipment status without going in search of it?
It's really easy and can save you some time -
In Sierra from Search/Holds, search by Author for equipment.
From there you can open a list of - for example, cameras - and will get a list of all the camera and their status - either available, missing, date due, etc.
You can also perform the same search in the catalog.
Doing this could save you the effort of searching to see if an item is here or checkout.
Stay warm and dry!!
